System requirements
Trove is built on Tauri 2 — a native shell around a Rust core. That makes it lean.
- Supported: macOS 13 Ventura and later.
- Build: Universal (Apple Silicon + Intel).
- Disk footprint: ~38 MB installed.
- RAM: 200–400 MB working set on a typical Project.
Windows
Section titled “Windows”Coming at launch. Will require Windows 11 (Windows 10 best-effort). MSIX install via signed bundle.
Coming at launch. AppImage and .deb planned. Requires webkit2gtk and libssl3.
Disk space for your work
Section titled “Disk space for your work”Trove itself is tiny — the storage you need is whatever your manuscripts take. As a rough guide:
- A typical novel manuscript in plain Markdown: 200–800 KB.
- A World with 50 Entities and inline images: 5–25 MB.
- Snapshots (Drafts) and Trash: usually under 10 MB total per Project.
A million-word epic with hundreds of entities and full-resolution character art might top 100 MB. Most Projects sit under 5 MB.
Network
Section titled “Network”Network access is required only:
- The first time you activate a License (validates with Polar).
- Periodically for License re-validation (cached for weeks).
- When you check for updates (you control when).
