System requirements

Trove is built on Tauri 2 — a native shell around a Rust core. That makes it lean.

  • Supported: macOS 13 Ventura and later.
  • Build: Universal (Apple Silicon + Intel).
  • Disk footprint: ~38 MB installed.
  • RAM: 200–400 MB working set on a typical Project.

Coming at launch. Will require Windows 11 (Windows 10 best-effort). MSIX install via signed bundle.

Coming at launch. AppImage and .deb planned. Requires webkit2gtk and libssl3.

Trove itself is tiny — the storage you need is whatever your manuscripts take. As a rough guide:

  • A typical novel manuscript in plain Markdown: 200–800 KB.
  • A World with 50 Entities and inline images: 5–25 MB.
  • Snapshots (Drafts) and Trash: usually under 10 MB total per Project.

A million-word epic with hundreds of entities and full-resolution character art might top 100 MB. Most Projects sit under 5 MB.

Network access is required only:

  • The first time you activate a License (validates with Polar).
  • Periodically for License re-validation (cached for weeks).
  • When you check for updates (you control when).
